that must've been hard not really doing these things but having the memories you had what were you trying to do if not that? were they things you could try to fix?
We woke up, and what we initially remembered was getting killed by someone. We did not remember who or why. We had to figure out each person who killed us to settle a karmic debt.
We had to investigate. We went around and talked to people, and as we did memories came back to us that revealed more. At some point we were attacked by a rat who wanted revenge against us.
okay. makes sense. was the rat one of the people who killed one of you then, or somebody else who just got in the way? were you separated from hak too that time?
Hak went with Yuma. I ran after Medea, but I was unable to catch up to her, so we were separated. The rat didn't kill us. Actually Can we meet in person?
[ well he sees why he wanted to move this off-channel. ]
I don't think I have to say this, but I will. Those people in there weren't actually you, so you have to remember you didn't do those terrible things. Not that it changes how you feel about being killed by someone important to you.
[ ... he's not sure if he wants to ask if it was elysium or not. ]
[ it's a sentiment he understands. after all, once they all figured out what was going on, they immediately started to fight against it. it was obvious none of them agreed.
but emotions are tricky things that don't always listen to logic. ]
[ emotions are extremely tricky and that's why he's being slightly more careful with this. ]
Awful... [ just mumbling. ] We didn't get our memories back until we reached the summit and found the people more important to us. So to you, it felt like these people were confronting you but you didn't know the depth of their relevance to you.
That guy you left, right? [ because fuck that guy. ] If only it were that easy. But on those trips... they always pick the people that'll hit you the most. Push you into complying. Stuff like that.

sorry i just mean thats a huge shift from who you all are
does that mean you had to actually act on those memories...?
no subject
But we constantly had to face the consequences of what we did.
Seeing people it affected.

We did not remember who or why.

did you guys at least remember the how to have some sort of clue?
how do you even start solving that?
no subject
We went around and talked to people, and as we did memories came back to us that revealed more.

a... rat?
thorns, what?
no subject
The rat kidnapped Hak and I, which lead to a confrontation.
His lover was sick and dying, apparently due to what we were doing.
no subject
[ he really has to pause for a second to kind of go "the fuck." ]
um. how did the confrontation turn out? were you guys separated for long?
no subject
But then we were separated again immediately after.
no subject
were you separated from hak too that time?
no subject
I ran after Medea, but I was unable to catch up to her, so we were separated.

Actually
Can we meet in person?
no subject

[ which is about as good as it gets, so he shoves his compact into his pocket and heads back into the maze...
it's easy enough to get to the simulation room though and he pulls up to a stop next to him. ]
... thinking about going in, or just taking a break?
no subject
[ he stares at the door for another second before shaking his head. ]
I didn't want to discuss too much over text.
no subject
I get it. I would've come to see you from the beginning, but wasn't sure if you wanted some space or not.
[ he tilts his head to stare at the door, too. ]
I can set it for something myself and we can talk in there if you want. I don't know how out in the open you wanna be right now.
no subject
no subject
I set the timer for thirty minutes, but it can go longer if we want it to.
no subject
[ they'll see if they need the time. ]
... The people who killed us were all people who were important to us, I think. In our actual lives. For good reason, since we were terrible.
no subject
I don't think I have to say this, but I will. Those people in there weren't actually you, so you have to remember you didn't do those terrible things. Not that it changes how you feel about being killed by someone important to you.
[ ... he's not sure if he wants to ask if it was elysium or not. ]
How'd you find out in the end?
no subject

The memory came back after the confrontation.

I thought it was my teacher who killed me at first, but I was wrong.
