... Apparently, yeah. It's concerning how much information this place gets from us.

Tell me about it. It can rewrite who you are and spit up a whole new life using pieces it already had. And every week we have to deal with the maze putting our personal stuff on public display... it's like nobody can hide anything.

[ a frown follows. ]

... it's gonna be hard to shake off, isn't it?

[ he looks down at his hand, flexing his fingers for a moment. ]

... Possibly. I made a choice that I don't think I can forgive myself for. But all we can do is move on and try to live.

[aerodynamic]

[ ... man. ]

I'm sorry, Thorns. [ what else can he say? ] I know all you can do is try to move forward and do better, but it's not like you won't occasionally think about the "what ifs", right? What if you made another choice, or what if the results are different. Not that it does anybody any good but... you get what I'm saying.

[ he is once again amazed at what a thoughtful teenager yosuke is. ]

Do people tell you that you're very kind?

[ there's a soft laugh to that. ]

I think I just kinda get it. [ despite his other flaws, he is a genuinely empathetic person. ] But I would rather try to be like this for people than anything else.

Not everyone is like that.

It's a trait you shouldn't lose.

Believe me, I'm trying not to. Sometimes I think that's what this place is trying to do though. Test us to see how far we'll bend before we break. I kinda hate it.

[oversea]

Mm. It's not making things easy for us.

... Have you felt like you've been making progress? With your shard.

.. yeah, I think so. Different every week. Have you? I know we kinda talked about this before, but...

This week was the first one I made any progress. I was failing all the other weeks.

[ there is a slightly relieved smile to that. ]

That's good. There's still time. [ a tilt of his head. ] What do you think you did differently this time?

I have no idea.

[aerodynamic]

[ this startles a laugh out of him, actually. ]

Okay, well... let's think about this. What all did you actually do this week?

[ he tries to think about it... ]

I complained more about the situation.

That's a start. Complained how, exactly?

On your own? [ remembers thorns coming to find him to hold hands. ] Maybe that's the difference. You weren't forced into it.

[ he has to think about this. ]

Is it that easy...?

[aerodynamic]

Talking to other people? No, not always. [ says mr. chatterbox. ] But I do think it's easier when you have something to commiserate on, or something in common. You're in the same situation as everybody else. Of course if feels easy to complain about being stiff to someone else.

I feel like if I do that every week then it'll start to get old...

[ you know i've reread my tag to you four times and i'm not sure stiff is even the word i wanted. anyway. ]

Considering some new bullshit happens every week, I sincerely doubt that. [ he just says it. ] This last week was a total nightmare, and whatever part of the maze we enter next is going to have its own new brand of messed up. Talking to each other and working through it is the only way we can make progress here.

It is... sloth and greed left?

[ the look of a man who is finally fully understanding these mazes are themed after the seven sins, officially. ]

... yeah, that sounds about right. [ ... ] Not the worst, but I do wonder what that's going to look like. Sloth could be dangerous if it means obstacles that'll slow us down.

[ it's okay the only reason thorns knows this is because someone else told him. they can never realize things together. ]

... True. I'd be concerned about exploring the maze.
